The Stories of This Vagabond

Brunch Day

Hi Gram!
Some days I feel like a race car driver, speeding through my tasks. Some days I feel like a hamster, just spinning my wheel and getting nowhere. Today, I crossed the finish line in record time! I got up before my alarm, did my puzzles, and headed to the gym. It was leg day on this new workout routine and I might have overdone it…but I headed home on wobbly legs. Amber, Bob and I were going to climb the tall hill in the center of town today, but the landlord told us the plumber was coming between 1 and 4. We’d have to be here, so we put off the climb to another day and went to brunch instead.

I had an omelette that hit all the right buttons. Delicious. After breakfast, we decided to walk up to the white tower, a landmark nearby. I climbed the stairs, 15 floors, might I remind you that today was leg day and my legs were already wobbly, reaching the top huffing and puffing but successful. Bob is nursing a knee injury, so they took the path that wound up the hill – the smarter plan. We met up and admired the view, then walked over to the black tower. It also had a nice view.

After getting some pictures, we meandered down the trail and took a circuitous route back to the apartment. The rest of the day was spent planning some travel, meeting with the plumber, plus a little nap before Bob cooked up some soup for dinner. The two of them love cooking and are good at it, so I’ve been practicing my dishwashing. The soup was delicious and filling as we planned out tomorrow’s adventure. After the dishes were clean, I walked over to Lidl to pick up a few things and get in my post-dinner steps. Back home, I fiddled around a bit then went to bed.

This sign in the bathroom made me laugh. I understand the warning to flush, the warning to throw garbage in the garbage can and not the toilet. I’m surprised that people need to be told that the toilet brush is not for your hair or your bottom, and that Europeans need to be told that it’s not a squat toilet.
