Hi Gram!
I just woke up in Romania, the train rumbling along. I slept better than expected. Almost 9 hours have passed since I boarded the train. I converted the bed to seats and it reminds me of what a salesman once told my family about hide-a-bed couches – they’re not great beds and they’re not great couches.. I only have a few more hours to go in the seats, though, and I can get up and walk around a bit.

We’re passing through the mountains this morning, so the scenery is nice. A few hours later, we pulled into the station and deboarded. The train station was quaint, not too busy. I grabbed a little pizza square so I wouldn’t get hangry, then looked up how to get to the apartment. The bus was approximately $1 and I wasn’t familiar with where it would drop me off, or Bolt (like Uber) would be $3 and leave me in front of the apartment. So $3 and 20 minutes later, Amber and Bob were meeting me outside of the apartment that we’ll share for the next month.
We headed into the courtyard where workers were putting down paving stones, then up the stairs. Having to climb stairs is the only time that I wish I had smaller lighter luggage. Once I get to my place, I’m happy to have my conveniences like my own pillow and a sharp knife. The three of us caught up a bit, then went out to explore the nearby town a little. We met up at the Lidl to get some basic groceries, always an adventure that I enjoy in a new place.
Lidl and Aldi are the same style of grocery store. I think I heard that they’re owned by brothers. There’s always some sort of surprise that they sell. This one had power tools. Back home, we put away the groceries, then had a little snack and chatted some more. I took a shower, where I discovered the broken shower head, then we headed to dinner. The weather was perfect to sit outside and watch people go by while we ate some delicious food. After dinner, I stopped by the ATM, then we walked through the park on our way back. After a little tea, I said goodnight and got some much needed sleep.
