The Stories of This Vagabond

Another Gorgeous Day

Hi Gram!
I woke up before my alarm this morning, so I did my puzzles and journal then did some ChatGPT “research” until I got up around 8. Then we all headed to the gym, Bob joining us now that his knee was a little better. I had a really good workout, pushing myself enough that I know I’ll be gently sore tomorrow.

The gym is at the top of a mall with a department store on most of the floors and a grocery store in the basement. Most days we go early enough that the stores aren’t open yet. We went later today because the gym opens at 9 on the weekends, which gave us the opportunity to head to the basement to check out the Carrefour. It was a good grocery store, with plenty of everything we would need. I picked up some goji berries and a couple of snack yogurts while Bob and Amber grabbed some bananas.

On the walk home, we decided that we’d drop our bags at the house then head out for brunch. We ended up at The Brunch House where we’d eaten before, but sat outside this time. It was delightful! The food was good and the leaves in the background had started to turn colors, making the crisp morning just perfect. After brunch, we all got a little work done on each of our projects, then decided the day was too beautiful to stay indoors.

We packed some water and snacks then headed to Tampa, the hill in the center of town. Bob is recovering from a knee injury and I need to stop to rest often, but Amber waited patiently for us as we hiked through the changing foliage. I thought about turning back a few times, then passed the point at which finishing at the top was the shorter option. At the top, we shared a snack of apples and biscuits while we looked out over the city, content with our day.

Bob and Amber headed back down the hiking trail after saying our goodbyes – I took the cable car down. I can go uphill alright, but downhill is hard on my sense of balance. The hill was busier today than it was the other day, but I still walked right up and rode it down. I knew they would be a while, so I headed back to the apartment for a shower and to get a little work done on my computer. Once they got home, they prepared some goulash that tasted amazing. We all shared stories from our days, I washed the dishes, and headed to bed.
