Hi Gram,
Today was amazing! I woke up to the soothing sound of waves crashing against the cliffs, trying to lull me back to sleep. I resisted, though, knowing my friends were waiting for our morning scooter adventure.
The group staying at the Cliff Park slowly gathered and made our way to the parking lot, where we met a few more friends. Once everyone was ready, we hopped on our scooters and headed out. The roads on the island aren’t great, but since no one drives very fast, the incredible views more than make up for it. We wound through narrow streets until we reached the shoreline, where the road runs parallel to the water, offering breathtaking scenery.
We passed other tourists and locals—some walking, others riding scooters—on our way to the Yellow Bridge. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it to you before, but the Yellow Bridge is both fascinating and scary. It’s a pedestrian bridge connecting Nusa Lembongan to Ceningan Island, made entirely of metal and painted bright yellow. While it’s sturdy, crossing it on a scooter can be nerve-wracking. The “ka-thunk, ka-thunk” of the panels as you drive across, combined with the mix of pedestrians and scooters going in both directions, creates a chaotic yet thrilling experience.
Luckily, traffic was light, and everyone in our group felt confident in their riding skills. We crossed the bridge successfully, with success and glee. Once on Ceningan, we continued along the narrow, winding roads, climbing hills and navigating sharp turns until we reached our first destination: the Klyf Club.
The Klyf Club is a mix of restaurant, bar, pool, and Instagram hotspot rolled into one. After parking our scooters, we were shown to prime seats right by the railing, with stunning views of the water. The next few hours flew by as we played games, shared stories, ate, drank, and made unforgettable memories. Eventually, the group started to disperse—some heading to the pool, others off on their own adventures.
By then, I was ready for a break, so I returned to the cabana to relax. After the whirlwind of the past few days, it felt great to unwind and let the ocean’s white noise wash over me. A short nap later, I decided it was time to upgrade my scooter. The one I’d been using was small, with weak brakes and no shocks, so I swapped it for a larger, newer model—a process that took a couple of hours.
Later, I met up with the Vonds for a late lunch/early dinner at a barbecue spot they had discovered yesterday. The food was delicious, but the company was even better! The two of them have taken to scooter riding like naturals, and they looked adorable puttering along with their helmets and carefree attitudes.
After lunch, we returned to the cabanas for some much-needed rest. Island life, while relaxing, is surprisingly exhausting! In the evening, I joined a call with my “Less Shit, More Gold” group for our one-year reunion. Even though I had a slight headache, the call was wonderful. It felt great catching up with everyone and hearing about the exciting lives we’re all leading.
Once the call ended, I realized two naps weren’t quite enough, so I crawled into bed and let the sound of the waves lull me to sleep once more.
