Hi gram,
Today was our rest day and I made my best effort to rest! I woke with no alarm, although it was still early, and took my time getting going. David and I headed out to find breakfast and were surprised to find fewer options open on a Sunday than during the week. Sunday must be a day of rest for everyone in this town. We stopped at a convenience store for some water and laundry detergent, then doubled back to a local restaurant we’d passed. I just had scrambled eggs while David got the #2 breakfast. It included eggs, sausage (hot dogs), bacon, ham, OJ and coffee. Our classmate Robbie stopped in and chatted for a bit while he drank his coffee, then headed off for a nap.
We dropped our waters and detergent off, then I headed to Village Market, a mall down the road a piece. One of the local green truck busses was pulling up as I walked out, and before knew it I was there – a little too early. The mall opens at 10:30 and I arrived at about a quarter after. I found a spot in the shade, took a seat and waited for Christina to get there. We chatted for a few minutes, then headed inside to the sweet, sweet air conditioning. I had a checklist of items I needed and we spent the next few hours checking things off my list and acquiring a few odds and ends for Christina. Hungry, we headed downstairs and found healthy-ish chicken and veggie lunches. After a little more wandering around and a stop at the ATM, we said our goodbyes and each headed our own ways home.
Back at the apartment, I unpacked my purchases and sorted through all of my luggage to get myself ready for the coming week. Tired, I vegged out on the computer for a bit until David got back. We chatted a bit, then headed to Tamarind market for dinner, where we met Christina again and ate some delicious grilled veggies and chicken. I behaved myself and didn’t get an avocado milkshake or desserts, but they were so tempting!
Back at the apartment, I got cleaned up and relaxed a little before a phone call with Monica. She told me about some veggies she’s getting ready to plant in her garden and a trip she’s preparing for but I hogged much of the conversation telling her about the past week of exercise, about moving to the apartment, and how all of it has been affecting me. We had to cut the call short, but it was great catching up. Knowing that I had to get up at 5am, I wrapped up my evening routine and headed to bed.
