The Stories of This Vagabond

Picture Day

Hi Gram,
After last night’s feeling of slow motion, I woke up feeling a bit better. I’m still not at 100%, but I’m happy to report that I’ve returned to the land of the living. This morning (or evening back at home) was Fintalks time, so Chris headed over and we hung out. We recounted a little of our adventures here in Bali and learned a lot from the group’s discussion. Once the zoom call ended, we decided to head for breakfast at one of the resort’s restaurants. We were greeted with a decadent buffet of breakfast foods, made-to-order omelettes, and pastries that filled me up. We talked about each of our plans for the coming year, what more we had in store for this trip, and what we appreciated from the retreat. It was great getting to know him a little better and I look forward to Chris joining us on the road trip from CampFi to EconoMe in March.

After breakfast, we met up with our group for a photo shoot that the resort offered. It was fun posing on a bridge and a few other locations with the whole group, sub-groups, and individually while we exercised our camera awareness with both photographers. The sun was already baking everyone, even this early in the morning, so once the photographers were done, everyone headed for our rooms to cool off.

While most people gathered under a cabana on the beach, I spent most of the day just relaxing in my room getting caught up on some computer stuff. Eventually, the FOMO got the most of me and I headed to the beach to see what everyone was up to. David and I decided that all this lounging around was cause for some relaxation, so we wandered down the beach looking for a massage. We quickly found someone and negotiated a price. I was looking forward to a peaceful session of getting my knots worked out while I listened to the surf crashing in the background, but we were presented with tables with no hole for the face on the other side of the boardwalk from the beach. The massage was good, but I walked away with a crick in my neck from the way it was turned and disappointed that it didn’t live up to the fantasy in my head. Almost everyone was done at the beach when we returned, so I gathered up my things and went to choose my photos before the photographers closed up. Back at my room, I cleaned up then headed to dinner with the group. Honestly, I don’t remember going out to eat, but I’m told that we went to an Indian restaurant. I’m sorry I can’t recount how wonderful the food was, but let’s presume it was delicious.
